First, [community profile] thefridayfive! Time to expose myself~

1) What's the most cluttered spot in your home?

My bedroom lmao.

2) What's your method for decluttering?

Choosing a small area and then picking stuff in a specific order (ex. picking up any scattered papers, then stuff like clothes and going from there). Also taking breaks if I have to.

3) What are your favorite cleaning products?

I don't always use them, but when dealing with dusty areas, I prefer wearing gloves. For dishes, Mrs. Meyer's soaps!

4) What helps get you motivated to clean up?

Listening to music or videos on youtube (short comedy sketches, commentary channels, or video essays lately). Also the thought of having a clearer area, and more space to actually decorate a room however I like.

5) What's the most organized spot in your home?

Kitchen and bathroom, thankfully.

I'm in the midst of watching so many magical girl anime...was trying to finally finish 90s Sailor Moon (!!), but then I got sidetracked rewatching Madoka Magica, as well as keeping up with the new Tokyo Mew Mew. The reason I'm taking so long with the former is because, and I apologize, SuperS is kinda a boring season for me. Especially right after S, my fave! Toei really dropped the ball.

Anyway...MadoMagi is still so good. It'd been awhile since I had last rewatched it, and I still appreciate as much as I did when I was an 18-year-old viewing it for the first time.

  • The story, the art and animation, the soundtrack...aaah.
  • I'm really fascinated by more of the character dynamics, like Homura and Mami, Homura and Kyoko, Kyoko and Madoka...still a big MadoHomu and KyoSaya shipper too. In the case of the former, Rebellion really made me appreciate another side of their relationship, I'm curious if the sequel film will explore what Homura said, about the two possibly becoming enemies one day.
  • Might change, but Homura and Sayaka are my favorite characters of the bunch, though I like them all!
  • On that note, I can't hate Sayaka or Hitomi or Kyosuke. They're just teens dealing with a shitty situation, and in the case of the last two one they're not even fully aware of. That's why I never understood the character bashing.

Sadly, re: the new TMM, I find myself wanting to watch the 2002 anime instead.
  • For a remake of a fairly popular anime, it saddens me that the animation budget seems so...limited. I've read discussions on it, and this seems to another example, of recent shoujo anime getting screwed over in that department.
  • The plot also seems to be moving too fast? The main girls are being introduced so quickly. I haven't read the manga, and it's been awhile since I've seen the anime (and that was through the damn 4kids dub, which going by their track record, was probably cut and edited like crazy), but there was more time introducing them, wasn't there?
  • The transformation scenes are more disappointing, especially for Mint imo. I miss her little ballet moves! And while Yasuharu Takanashi has some nice tracks in his oeuvre, a lot of his magical girl music can be quite same-y. I prefer what I've heard of Takayuki Negishi's score from the original. (Fun fact: He also worked on the score for Cardcaptor Sakura, of which I really liked as well!)
  • I will say I did like Pudding's intro scene and transformation, Time will see how Zakuro's will play out....
